2024 VIOLATION NOTIFICATION

Pine Hill Water Works District# 8

4922 North Market Street

Shreveport, La  71107

2024 Violation Notification

For the year 2024, Pine Hill Water Works was found to be in violation of the treatment technique requirements for minimum residual disinfectant level as set forth by the state (part XII of the Louisiana State Sanitary Code) although these incidents were not an emergency, our customers have a right to be informed of what has happened.

We routinely monitor for disinfectant residual in the distribution system.  This measurement tells us whether we are effectively disinfecting the water supply.  Disinfectant residual is the amount of chlorine or related disinfectant present in the pipes of the distribution systems.  If the amount of disinfectant is too low, organisms could grow in the pipes.

Upon review of the area, it was found that a spicket/faucet used  for the collection of water samples needed replacing.  Also, the area in which the Point of Collection (POC) was located was deemed to have poor water circulation and high vegetation content.  The (POC) Point of Collection was replaced and relocated.

This incident was not an emergency. All emergencies require an immediate notice within 24-hours.  During the testing period for the same time frame there was no indication of bacteria presence in the water samples that was taken.  For information, please contact Pine Hill Water Works District#8 at (318)425-7586 or visit our website at www.pinehillwaterworks8.myruralwater.com .
